Food and Drink on the Isle of Man

If you’re a foodie at heart, the Isle of Man is the perfect destination for you. With a bustling restaurant and bar scene, countless quaint cafes and tearooms and an abundance of fresh, local produce you can take home to cook up a feast in one of our cottages – you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Sample fresh seafood

As an island, it goes without saying that our seafood is top notch. The Isle of Man is famous for its Manx Queenies in particular – queen scallops which are smaller and sweeter than normal scallops. You’ll find queenies on most Isle of Man resturant menus, so make sure you give them a try while you’re here.

Also, it wouldn’t be a trip to the Isle of Man without kippers. Traditionally cured in Peel, the island’s famous kippers are exported the world over and make a wonderful breakfast with a slice or two of white, buttered bread.

Be spoilt for choice with our Manx tipples…

Ale drinkers will be pleased to know we’ve got a wealth of breweries here on the island, such as Okells, The Hooded Ram, Apple Orphanage and Bushys, creating outstanding real ales and ciders that hit the spot after a long day exploring.

For the wine drinkers, in Port Erin you’ll find the island’s very own winery – Foraging Vinters – producing a range of non-grape based wines, by the sea.

And, if spirits are your thing, choose from one of the Isle of Man’s spirit distilleries, including Fynoderee and the Seven Kingdom Distillery.

…or stick to the sensible stuff

Aside from alcoholic beverages, the Isle of Man also produces some outstanding fruit juices and soft drinks. Apple Orphanage produces fresh apple juice and sparkling presse that’ll make your mouth water and quench your thirst.

Indulge with a meal (or two!) out on the town

Whatever your taste, the Isle of Man’s flourishing eatery scene has something to cater for you. From fine-dining through to afternoon tea, or a fish and chips by the sea, we really have got it all.
